Members of the Group are asking HCC Roads Engineering Team to take action before the major road scheme works get under way early next year. Major works at the Ring Road/Aldermaston Roundabout will cause havoc and force drivers of all size vehicles to seek-out alternative routes. The anticipated additional traffic over and above the ever increasing volumes using our country lanes will cause havoc and wreck the rural verges.
Member of the Group have asked that temporary ‘Access Only’ restrictions are put in place and width restrictions similar to those that exist along Ramsdel Road, Ramsdel are installed before the works start. We are also asking that an allocation of funds from the scheme is earmarked for pre and post the scheme works taking place.
Recent works in Bramely brought residents to tears when they saw how the verges became absolutely trashed following a road scheme in their village.
Continuous road schemes new restrictions and a number of vehicle crashes along the A339 between Newbury and Basingstoke has seen traffic volumes along Baugurst’s lanes continue to increasing over the last year.

Situation Update:
Steve Bushell of Baughurst Road has been steering this one and has had number of conversations with HCC Highways Engineers based in Winchester. Engineers now recognise our concerns regarding the possibility of traffic diverting through our country lanes during this major works programme. On Thursday this week an Engineering Manager from Winchester will make a visit to the area to access the situation. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you posted.
